Counting Down the Days

 I live in a small town that I don't really care for. Unfortunately, my youngest listened to his father and did not choose Florida State University, making me stuck here for four more years. The good news? He is about to start his senior year in this wretched state, and I will be ricocheting out of here.

Why do people live where it snows? I have asked this question to everyone. that lives up here, and no one has a good answer. The best that they can do is tell me that they like a change of seasons. I also like a change of seasons. I love when baseball season turns into College Football season but it would never make me want to live some where that the ground can have 5 inches of ice fall onto it. It makes no sense.

I also have siblings where it gets insanely hot. When 86 degrees is your low temperature, no thank you.  119 degrees is hot enough to cook on a rock; that is just crazy talk. I don't care if the umidity is low, 119 is still 119.  

I can't wait to live where I grew up, bugs, snakes, hurricanes and all. 20 acres are waiting for me to have my round house built, fence some of the yard to keep my knuckleheaded hound in place, and garden.  It turns out that after all of those years of no interest in learning how to can food, I have come to want to know what is in my food. Growing and preserving it myself is the best way to do that.

I like the ease of container gardening. The bending is minimal, and weeding takes about two minutes. I control the dirt that I am using ( I love to compost, who knew?) I have a big ol' composter for outside refuse, but I also have a counter top composter that will make a quart of G R E A T dirt in about five hours.  I can't believe my life some days.

I think I will end this now on the hopeful note that I am getting reading to move home.  I can't wait to fight the alligators, the bugs and the weather.  Every day I will thank God that I am not shoveling snow or removing ice. Have a great day, thanks for playing!
